“When it comes to life I have learned that setting realistic expectations (and assumptions!)  is always important. Colour and Art as a class  has exceeded my expectations.  This evening class  is the perfect activity to combat

the stress of every day living.  It distracts your thinking away from the everyday challenges life throws at you and transports you to a space for just being , a space where you can take time to explore yourself and the picture you’re creating.

I have attended art classes before but found them quite competitive in nature and left them.

This class is different , under the stewardship of our teacher Catherine the participants in our class all feel their work is valued. Catherine stresses that each piece of art we create tells us something about ourselves … a road of discovery which ignites our imagination and which frames our weekly activities. Culminating in what has become for me a totally chilled out and relaxing experience for 90 minutes every week. Catherine focuses on teaching us what some art classes don’t , to not think too much about the end product,  to be inspired by what is around us and to explore first principles with technique. Over time we develop insights from each created piece no matter how large or small the learning has been, we take it forward with us to the next class.

Catherine’s tacit knowledge on  art and indeed her passion for abstract work is infectious. It’s therefore perhaps no surprise that as a group we are evolving with Catherine at the helm , not only in what we paint but in our appreciation of colour , detail, design and contrast to understand what our personal  “good“ looks like to us as individuals. There are no egos here just a time to share what we are learning in a relaxed and laid back space. It’s a very therapeutic process and I cannot recommend this class enough. If you are interested in working on abstract art this class can act as a springboard to shift one’s mindset supporting a space for alternative creativity and thinking . Thank you Catherine and Amy for setting up Colour and Art , my “realistic assumption” (!)  is that I am more sensory aware of the world around me and certainly the better for attending Catherine’s class
